TAV WELCOMED THE 1ST FLIGHT FROM WARSAW AT OHRID AIRPORT

With a traditional welcoming ceremony including water canon salute and colorful cupcakes for passengers, TAV Macedonia welcomed the first flight from Warsaw that arrived this afternoon at 16:20h at Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, organized by the Polish tour-operator Rainbow, operated by the airline Enter Air.

The new seasonal flights Warsaw-Ohrid-Warsaw, starting from today, 4th of June, will be operated each Monday during the summer season, until 21st of September. Airplanes from the model Boeing 737-800 will arrive from Warsaw at Ohrid Airport at 16:20h, and will depart back to the Polish capital at 18:30h.

-We are very happy to mark the expansion of our operations at Ohrid Airport today by adding Warsaw as a new destination, which is the second destination from Poland we have introduced in the past year, after the line Katowice-Ohrid opened in the summer of 2017. The seasonal flights from Warsaw, organized by Rainbow and carried by Enter Air, should bring around 3.000 passengers at Ohrid Airport, while together with the flights from Katowice, organized by Rego Bis and carried by Small Planet Airlines, we expect a total of 9.000 passengers from Poland to land at Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport during summer of 2018, stated Yigit Lacin, TAV Macedonia Airports Coordinator.

Rainbow is one of the two largest Polish tour operators and cooperates with the Polish charter airline Enter Air, carrying flights with Boeing 737-800 airplanes.

TAV Macedonia is having a busy summer season at Ohrid Airport. It was opened on 15th of April, with the launch of the new route Istanbul-Ohrid, by Onur Air. The expansion of the route network continued, by adding Eindhoven, Tallinn and Warsaw, as new destinations.

With these 4 new seasonal flights opened in 2018, and the existing ones to Amsterdam, Brussels, Tel Aviv and Katowice, Ohrid Airport has 8 seasonal destinations during the summer season, and 3 regular routes year round - Basel, Zurich and London. As of November 2018, Wizzair will introduce new regular route from Ohrid to Vienna and will perform flights year around.

In the first 5 months of 2018 (January-May), a total of 823.801 passengers travelled through both Macedonian airports, Skopje International Airport and Ohrid St.Paul the Apostle Airport, with a 19% increase on the annual level. At the same time the total number flights was 7.196, with an annual rise of 16%.

There is no regular shuttle bus for passengers to Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport; there is only organized shuttle bus transportation within the arranged tours/seasonal (charter) flights by the local travel agencies.
Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport is opened according to the flights timetable.
Check-in at the passenger and baggage check-in counters starts 180 minutes (3 hours) before the scheduled time of departure (STD) specified on your flight ticket. The closing time of the airport check-in counter is no later than 60 minutes before STD stated on your flight ticket.
Since the beginning of COVID–19 pandemic, due to the requirements for different travel documents imposed by different countries, TAV Macedonia appeals to passengers to arrive at the airport 3 hours before take-off.

Passengers are allowed to carry items that are not additionally charged, such as the following: jacket, 1 umbrella or walking stick, 1 women’s purse, 1 camera or binoculars, 1 baby transporter carry cot, 1 pair of crutches, or similar prosthetic mobility aids, medical equipment on which the passenger is dependent on, proper quantity of baby food.
Regarding the amount of the baggage charges, please contact your airline, because each airline has its own baggage policy and rules.
