TAV AIRPORTS: A new phase of Ohrid Airport begins, we are investing 2.7 million EUR in its modernization

TAV Macedonia, a subsidiary of TAV Airports, a member of the ADP Group, today officially marked the beginning of the reconstruction of the Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport in, an investment worth 2.7 million euros.
„With this project, the value of which is 2.7 million euros, funds from the TAV Airports, will be invested in several key segments of Ohrid airport.
The first segment concerns the reconstruction of the passenger terminal and the increase in operational capacities.

The security control and hand baggage control area will be extended to almost 200 square meters; the gates area will be extended to over 350 square meters; the baggage claim area will be extended to 230 square meters.
There will be new duty-free shop, new passenger escalator, and new equipment and technologies for secure and efficient serving of passengers. Passport Control area will extend for 150 square meters and operational staff offices on airside for 270 square meters. Additionally, the parking lot in front of the terminal will be reorganized which will increase and improve passenger flow.

Nejat Kurt, TAV Macedonia General Manager
I’d like to point out that with the reconstruction, the terminal building capacity is being expanded by 30% to 40%, which will allow us to provide more aircraft and more passengers in the peak hours when the airport is operating at its maximum capacity.
The second segment concerns the extension and upgrading of the administrative building, which will now reach 746 square meters from 290 square meters. In the Administrative building, besides TAV Macedonia offices and the new cafeteria for staff that will be constructed, there will be new offices for Border Police and Customs Control and a new car park for staff next to the administrative building. " said Nejat Kurt, TAV Macedonia General Manager.
As he emphasized, the basic idea with Ohrid Airport reconstruction and extension, is dislocation of the administrative facilities from the terminal building to the upgraded administrative building, thus enabling bigger terminal capacity for the needs of the passenger traffic.
Meanwhile, the strategy for the implementation of the project will allow the airport to continue to operate without interruption during construction activities.
“This project, which will give Ohrid Airport a completely new look, will enable a more comfortable, more efficient and enjoyable journey and work experience. Modern infrastructure is not just a matter of facilities and technologies, but above all the experience of people – of the passenger who starts his journey with a smile and of the team who, with professionalism and dedication, ensures that every day passes safely and successfully.
That is why we see these activities as an investment in a better everyday life for everyone who is part of the airport community,” added Nejat Kurt, TAV Macedonia General Manager.
