New flights between Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport and London Luton Airport will be launched this evening. Wizzair will perform Ohrid-London flights two times a week during summer season

Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, operated by TAV Macedonia, will welcome the first flight from London by WizzAir.

Landing in the early evening on June 10th, the airplane arriving from Luton Airport will carry 133 passengers to Ohrid, the touristic pearl of Macedonia.

With the traditional welcoming ceremony containing water-bridge around the aircraft, ladies dressed in traditional national clothes, snack with brad and salt and a celebration cake, TAV Macedonia will celebrate the first flight from London by WizzAir at Ohrid Airport.

-In TAV Macedonia we are very happy that the new route London-Ohrid will enable lot of tourists from England to visit Ohrid and Prespa Lakes. In addition, this new route will be attractive for the Macedonian citizens, as well as for the passengers from the neighboring countries because it will be a good opportunity for establishing business and other types of relations with Great Britain, said Zoran Krstevski, the General Manager of TAV Macedonia.

With this inaugural flight it will be marked the announced establishing of the new regular direct route London-Ohrid-London during the summer season. WizzAir will perform reciprocal flights two times a week, every Wednesday and every Sunday, arriving at 18:15 at Ohrid Airport and taking off at 18:45 for London-Luton. At the moment, the flights are scheduled until 13th of September.

The new route Ohrid-London is one of the two new announced routes that are being introduced at Ohrid Airport this summer. The second one is Basel, also carried by WizzAir, that will start as of 1st of July. WizzAir’s aircraft will operate on this route every Wednesday and every Sunday, until 21 of October.

Due to these new routes, as well as the charter flights from Holland, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium, carrying organized groups of tourists in Ohrid during summer season, TAV Macedonia officials expect an increase of the air traffic at the St. Paul Apostle during the summer season.

TAV Macedonia provided services to almost 1.3 million passengers in 2014, with a 20 percent increase a year earlier at both Skopje Alexander the Great and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle airports.
