OHRID AIRPORT ACCREDITED WITH ACI’S AIRPORT HEALTH CERTIFICATE

Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport is accredited by Airports Council International (ACI) in ACI’s Airport Health Accreditation Program, which is a new international health benchmark for airports around the world, designed to help reassure the travelling public that airport facilities remain safe and that precautions are being taken to reduce any risk to their health.

“After reviewing the evidence presented through our evaluation process, your airport has shown that it is providing a safe airport experience for all travelers which is in line with the recommended health measures established in the ACI Aviation Business Restart and Recovery guidelines and ICAO Council Aviation Recovery Task Force Recommendations, along with industry best practices”, said Luis Felipe de Oliveira, ACI World Director General, congratulating to TAV Macedonia General Manager, Metin Batak for the accreditation.

As per rules by ACI Airport Health Accreditation Program, the Airport Health Certificate for Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport is valid for the next 12 month, after that a recertification process will follow.

We are honored to receive ACI’s Airport Health Certificate for Ohrid Airport, after we’ve already received it for Skopje Airport, in October 2020. We’ve applied for ACI’ Health Accreditation Program, for Ohrid Airport, in November 2020, and the whole audit process lasted until now, April 2021. Audited were all our airport processes, including our health emergency and disinfection plans, as well as TAV’s Airport Pandemic Protocol implemented at Ohrid Airport during the pandemic. ACI’s Airport Health Certificate is a global recognition that Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport offers safe journeys for our passengers”, states TAV Macedonia General Manager, Metin Batak.

TAV Macedonia finished the first three months of 2021 with 64% decrease in passenger traffic at both Macedonian airports – Skopje International Airport and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, compared to the same period of 2020. At the same time the number of flights on both airports together dropped by 44%.

Within 2021 summer flight schedule (March-October) 44 destinations with 11 airlines are announced from Skopje Airport, while from Ohrid Airport although at the moment there are only 2 routes, from the end of June expected are 13 regular destinations and 6 seasonal charters.

However, TAV Macedonia appeals to all passengers that there are possibilities for changes in flight frequencies to announced destinations, as well as possible cancellations of some of the announced destinations, due to the extremely uncertain business environment in the aviation industry, which is a result of the rapid changes in the policies of different countries for entry, which are made due to Covid-19.
