Pets Policy
TAV Macedonia, as a company operating Skopje International Airport and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, is dedicated to the implementation of all applicable national laws and regulations for Protection and Welfare of Animals, including the Law on Protection and Welfare of Animals (Official gazette of RM No. 149/14, 149/15 and 53/16).
In order to ensure positive experience to the pet owners, TAV Macedonia implements this Pet Policy which clearly and precisely regulates the visit to the airport and avoids possible conflicts between the pet owners and the remaining visitors/passengers of the airport.
The pet dogs visiting the airport, should be constantly leashed and accompanied by their owners. Exception from this rule are the dangerous dogs, which besides being leashed, should wear a muzzle according to Article 30 of the Law on Protection and Welfare of Animals according to which dangerous dogs are dogs that:
- have attacked or caused bodily harm or death to a person unprovoked;
- are found in organized animal fight;
- are of certain breeds and their half-breeds which can represent danger to people and animals because of their breed characteristics and
- which are proclaimed as dangerous dogs at the socialization test.
The pet owner while moving through the complete airport complex (public areas, parking lots, terminal building) should act according to the Law on Public Cleanliness, Article 19 paragraph 1, item 10. Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia No. 111/08, 64/09, 88/10, 114/10, 23/11, 53/11, 80/12, 163/13, 44/15, 147/15 and 31/16 and Official Gazette of the Republic of North Macedonia No. 122/21).
In case the pets tare traveling, their owners should follow the airline’s requirements for transport of pets, including the health and legal conditions and regulations of the destination state.
