TAV WELCOMED EUROWINGS 1ST FLIGHT FROM STUTTGART AT OHRID AIRPORT

With the traditional aviation water cannon salute for Eurowings’ Airbus A 319 aircraft and sweets for the passengers on board, TAV Macedonia welcomed the 1st flight from Stuttgart at Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport this morning, marking the opening of the two new seasonal destinations – Stuttgart and Dusseldorf, as well as the entrance of Eurowings as a new airline on the Macedonian market.

-We are very happy that we have welcomed the first passengers from Stuttgart at Ohrid Airport this morning carried by Eurowings, part of Lufthansa group. As of today, 1st of July, Eurowings will fly on the route Stuttgart-Ohrid two times per week, every Monday and every Friday, until the 9th of September, while as of 17th of July the airline will introduce its second seasonal destination from Ohrid Airport – Dusseldorf that will be operated every Wednesday, until the end of August. We expect these two new destinations, Stuttgart and Dusseldorf, to increase the number of passengers at Ohrid Airport, as well as the number of German tourists on the beautiful Ohrid Lake. At the same time, the two new destinations will open new opportunities for the local citizens who can choose Eurowings for their travels and benefit from the airline’s extensive network of 210 destinations worldwide, including long haul flights to North America, South America and Asia, stated Alper Ersoy, TAV Macedonia General Manager.

As of today, the airline is flying from Stuttgart to Ohrid Airport, every Monday, with time of arrival in Ohrid - 9:25h and time of departure to Stuttgart - 10:15h. On Fridays, the flights will arrive at Ohrid Airport at 10:15h and depart to Stuttgart at 11:05h. The flights to Dusseldorf, as a second new destination from Ohrid Airport introduced by Eurowings this summer, as of 17th of July, will operate each Wednesday, arriving at Ohrid Airport at 18:10h, departing for Dusseldorf at 18:50h.

Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport currently serves 20 destinations, from which 8 are regular routes through the whole year and low cost at the same time: Zurich, Basel, Vienna, London, Malmo, Milano, Memmingen and Dortmund. The other 12 destinations from Ohrid Airport are seasonal, from April till October: Amsterdam, Brussels, Istanbul, Tallinn, Tel Aviv, Warsaw, Eindhoven, Katowice, Maastricht, Adana, Stuttgart and Dusseldorf.

The airlines that currently fly from Ohrid Airport are: Wizz Air, Edelweiss, Germania Flug, Pegasus, Onur Air, Corendon, Brussels Airlines, TUIFly, Nordica, Enter Air, LOT, Helvetic and Eurowings.

Ohrid Airport has been ranked by Airports Council International (ACI) as one of the top 3 airports in Europe, according to highest passenger’s growth rate in the first quarter of 2019, which is 63,9%, significantly higher than the EU average of 4,4%.

TAV Macedonia continues to mark passenger’s number increase in the first months of 2019.
From January until May 2019, a total of 914.759 passengers traveled through both airports – Skopje International Airport and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, which is 11% increase compared to the same period of 2018.
The company finished 2018 with 2,3 million passengers at both airports and annual increase of 16%.
