With water cannon salute & cupcakes for the Dutch tourists, TAV welcomed the 1st seasonal charter flight for 2017 summer season at Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport that arrived from Amsterdam by the airline Corendon 

With a water cannon salute, traditional Macedonian snacks & colorful cupcakes, TAV Macedonia welcomed the 180 passengers that arrived this morning at Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport from Amsterdam by the airline Corendon, as the first seasonal charter-flight opening 2017 summer season.    

-We are here this morning to welcome the 1st seasonal charter flight at Ohrid Airport for this year, and at the same time to mark the opening of 2017 summer season, which we believe will be very successful in terms of increased air traffic. Besides the regular routes we have year round at Ohrid Airport - to Basel, Zurich and London, as well as the traditional charter flights from Holland, this summer the seasonal flights we have opened in 2016 from Belgrade, Brussels and Tel Aviv will continue, while additionally new charter flights from Poland will start as of 22nd of June. Once weekly 200 Polish tourists will arrive at Ohrid Lake, thanks to the agreement we have signed with one of the biggest Polish tour operators. With the good cooperation we have with the Ministry of transport, the Municipality of Ohrid and all state aviation and tourism bodies, we are sure that we will continue developing Ohrid Airport and contribute to improvement of local tourism, stated Alper Ersoy, TAV Macedonia General Manager.

In the 2017 summer season, at Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport expected are to land 183 aircrafts from Amsterdam (by Corendon & by TUIFly), bringing over 28.000 Dutch tourists to spend their vacation at Ohrid Lake. At the same time, from May until October 2017, with seasonal flights, at Ohrid Airport expected are around 2.000 passengers from Brussels by Thomas Cook, 2.300 passengers from Belgrade, by Air Serbia, and around 2.600 passengers from Tel Aviv, by Arkia

TAV Macedonia finished the first 3 months of 2017 with 7% increase in the number of passengers, reaching 369.177 passengers at both Macedonian airports – Skopje Alexander the Great and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle.

Last 2016 was finished with a total of 1,8 million passengers at both airports and  15% increase on the annual level, while the number of flights was 16.883, with 8,9% growth.
